What I thought
I think this book is very entertaining and a bit funny – not laugh-out-loud funny, but ‘laughing on the inside’ funny. I read the book very quickly, and I liked the illustrations, which I thought helped the story along.
The book has some good themes about popularity which will hopefully make some kids sit up and listen. It’s a reminder that being popular isn’t everything.
This is an easy read for ages 9-12. I can already tell that James O’Loghlin is an author I will want to read more books from. He’s got such a nice style and I really liked his quiet sense of humour. I think most kids will.
I am looking forward to reading book two in the series, which is called The New Kid: Very Popular Me and is out on 25 June 2019.
